Busy bank holiday for Arklow RNLI
The Arklow RNLI have had a busy May bank holiday on Saturday they recieved no less than three shouts while assisting in the Celtic challenge.
Choppy waters delayed the start of the race and sea sickness set in on some of the support boats.
One support boat had engine trouble and was towed to safety back into the harbour.
Just after at 3.15am on Monday morning the crew went to the aid of a small motor vessel in distress, the vessel had lost steering while battling extremely rough conditions.
ARKLOW RNLI Lifeboat and its volunteer crew braved the conditions and arrived on scene at 4.00am approx.
Upon arrival a tow line was set up and the vessel was towed through the extremely rough conditions back to Arklow where all hands came ashore safely.
Thanks to our dedicated voluntary crew who got out of bed during the night to go “Out on A Shout”, thanks to Ned, Brendan, Mick, Eddie, Roger & Geoff and shorecrew of John & Peter, thanks to their efforts all hands came home safely.
